It’s not a new thing that Internet marketers and Affiliate marketers create review sites to generate an income. Review sites are an alternative to the long sale letter and fancy sales pages. They offer products or services to the customer but in a less aggressive manner. A basic review site consists of several reviews, written by the site owner or a ghost writer, for a particular product or service. After the reader becomes interested in the product based on the reviews he or she read, ideally they would click one of the links to purchase the product, get the free trial, or whichever action it is that you are looking for.
Like everything else in technology, internet marketing is evolving and a new breed of review sites has emerged. With these new style review sites, the products or services are only ‘described’ by the marketer, not ‘reviewed’ by the marketer. The actual reviews come from actual customers. Plus, the marketer can add several products to the site and isn’t limited to the typical 3 to 5. This Windsor Hotels site gives a basic example if this type of customer review site in action. The ‘products’ are simply all of the hotels or motels in the Windsor, Ontario area. The reviews are written by customers and offer unique content for the web site. Along with the reviews the site also has plenty of well placed links to let a potential traveler book a reservation at any of the listed hotels using the site owner’s affiliate code.
Internet surfers are getting more and more savvy all of the time and often don’t trust typical review sites like they once used to. This new breed of review site has several advantages over a traditional review site. With the new customer-review style site, the site has on-going unique free content added, the content is from real customers which adds trust, and the site is search engine friendly. With added advantages always comes some additional work, the back end of the site is a bit more complex than the older style site and some work is required monitoring the customer entered reviews for spam, etc. But, this work is a small price to pay for a site that creates trust for the reader and sales for the site owner. Filtering customer comments on a blog is standard practice though. Perhaps, processing the reviews might be considered the ‘hard’ part’. But the ‘hard’ part of the work can be taken care of by this WordPress review plugin, so truthfully, this process is as simple is putting together a regular WordPress blog.
