The number of blogs that are online is growing astronomically each day. New blogs are being added constantly, thanks in part to the ease with which anyone can start a blog. Some blogs are for personal purposes and others are for business purposes. Those that have any type of intent to make money or represent an existing business will need to attract an audience in order to have any impact.

Because of the huge number of blogs that already exist and the exponential increases that are occurring, getting yours off to a great start is key. The launch phase is a great time to promote your blog and pique interest from potential readers.

Here we will cover some of the best things you can do to promote your new blog after it is launched.

1. Announce the Blog Launch to Friends and Family

For many people, starting by promoting your site to friends and family is a great way to get a few people to visit the site and to start things in the right direction. These people will know you and will take an interest in what you are doing, and they may even become regular readers if they like the topics you are covering.

2. Link to Your New Blog from Your Other Sites

You may or may not have other websites or blogs at this point. If you do, you will be at an advantage. Use that existing site to help send some traffic and start building links by linking from your own site. It’s an easy way to help out your new blog.

While having other existing sites and blogs can be an advantage, building a new blog from scratch without this help is certainly possible. Additionally, once you have built this blog you will have the advantage for your next launch since you will already have a platform to help.

3. Link to Your Blog from Your Social Media Profiles

Social networking sites are common haunts for bloggers. If you have some social networking profiles of your own, be sure to add a link to your blog from the profile. This is an easy way to get a few links, and the visitors that arrive at your blog will probably already be familiar with you, making them a higher quality visitor.

As a new blogger, link building will be more of the most important hurdles that you will have to overcome. Simple links from profiles can be a start.

4. Create Content to Submit to Social Media Sites

There are any number of different ways that you can get people to visit your blog. Search engine traffic is highly sought after, but it takes time to build your site’s reputation with the search engines and develop any type of substantial search traffic. Links and recommendations from other sites are great too, but that also will take time (unless you are already well connected).

Although other types of traffic, like search engine visitors, take lots of time to develop, social media has the potential to send thousands of visitors to a new blog almost immediately. Of course, the content needs to be high quality and unique in order for social media users to take a liking to it.

Many bloggers attempt to use social media with less-than-spectacular results. The key is to produce the highest quality of content possible and develop a network of other social media users. Not every post will be successful with social media, but when you have a hit it could have a huge impact on the growth of your new blog.

5. Blog Commenting

One way to get quality (not necessarily quantity) visitors is to leave intelligent comments on other blogs in your industry or niche. Readers of those blogs will see your comment, and if they have a reason they will click through to your site.

If you want to gain exposure for your blog through commenting, focus on leaving helpful and intelligent comments. Most blogg commentors are just leaving generic garbage comments that ultimately add nothing to the post. Use your comment to show that you know what you are talking about and that people should pay attention to you.

6. Build a Network of Other Bloggers

All highly successful bloggers are well-connected with others in their niche. Building a network is one of the most important things you will do throughout the life of your blog.

Networking can often start with commenting on another blog, but that is not the only opportunity to network. Get involved at social media and social networking sites to get to know others, especially niche social sites. Also, don’t be afraid to email or contact another blogger through their blog just to introduce yourself.
