There is not one day, hour or minute that passes that there is some writer in some part of the world doing keyword research from any number of the search engines offered online. They do this to find out more about a specific subject or topic that they will write their next article about. When you know little or nothing about a subject you are to write about, it can be a very good idea to do keyword research. It can actually be very helpful to gain such knowledge for article writing.
However, it can sometimes slow you down as well and even get you into big trouble with any client because of copying someone else’s words without their permission, this is called plagiarism and it is very serious. The online world is filled up with various types of plagiarism and the majority of respectable clients will not accept it, however, they will insist on quality content that is entirely original. Who can blame them when it is illegal?
Doing some keyword research before you begin writing an article may seem like a great idea, however, you must be very careful that you use no more than 3 words of the original text together in your own article. The reason for this is that the Copyscape program as well as several others will find these strings of words and then highlight the phrase as a suspect phrase. This means more work on your part as you will have to return and revise that particular part of your article, so that it is no longer the same as an original phrase. This can get to be a hassle if you do it often and can lose you the business of a good client. It can also categorize you with a bad reputation of plagiarism and lose you any prospects in the future for writing articles for someone else. You do not what to have to deal with such as this.
If you want to learn how doing keyword research works and the type of information that is available to you and you will not be using it to write an article with, is it alright to do so?
When you are researching for your own personal information and will not be including it in something to be read by the general public you can search out anything you want to. Does this mean that you cannot copy any information that you find on any web page for your own personal research or when you want to print out a whole web page? Understandably, the answer is no.
